Ward Christmas Party

Ward Christmas Party 2009

I'll have to write this post when I have a free minute. Jonah's up with the flu . . .

UPDATE: I have 5 free minutes (Jonah fell asleep--thank goodness. Talk about flu. Holy cow. Poor J. Get well!).

DISCLAIMER: I know it seems crazy to post everyday, especially to those of you that update your blogs once a quarter (hint hint), but journaling keeps me sane. Truly. I write because I must. (Which is a paraphrased quote from someone. I just stole that, I'm pretty sure.)

Now, onto the Ward Christmas Party!

Saturday was the annual Christmas Party for our ward.

New to Latter-day Saint terminology? The word ward = "congregation" or church in our faith.

I'm not sure when congregations began being referred to as "wards," but I do know that the word comes from the Germanic root "to guard, to watch, to take care of."

Although the word ward may really just be a fancy word for congregation, I believe it really does have deeper meaning: your ward is the group that watches over you and takes care of you (in addition to family, of course!).

And these are the beautiful, amazing, inspiring, funny, fun . . . people that keep watch over us.

They have taken care of our family AND guarded us

many, many, many times this year!

I'm so thankful to know the people in these pictures.

Merry Christmas Founders Park 5th Ward!

PS: I didn't caption these photos, but I have to caption Angie and Seth's. They are, perhaps, the most beautiful couple I know--inside and out. And that's why this photo is so funny to me--they really don't know how amazing they are. (They don't take themselves too seriously--which seems uncommon for most beautiful people. LOL!)
