Someone Saved My Life Tonight

Here's the story of how a $70.00 bookshelf saved my life.

For years now, I've been cranky about the way I do laundry.

I'm actually a person that likes to DO the laundry. I love sorting the laundry. I love the smell of the soap. I love dryer sheets. The. Whole. Cleaning. Thing. Love. It.

BUT, I can't--for the life of me--figure out the returning clothes to dressers part.

Most of what I fold doesn't make it to the dresser. AND the things that do make it to the dresser just don't stay folded. And nothing, NO THING, makes me more cranky than wrinkles in a once folded shirt.

So, I've been trying my best to figure out how to solve this dilemma.

And Friday night I figured it out!

I took an Ikea bookshelf, turned it on its side, and put it in our laundry room. I gave each family member a square/cubby and placed their clean/folded laundry in said-cubby.

I'm not kidding when I say that bookself saved my life. Yup. An $70.00 mass-produced MDF bookshelf from Sweeden saved my life.

You see, the laundry really has been "the last straw" for me each week. Court time, counseling sessions, work, homework, bills . . . those things I can manage. But the laundry, that made me one sad puppy.

And in a matter of 20 minutes, the problem was solved.

Zap!

Gone!

This entire week--clean/folded laundry has been sorted to the cubbies and everyone's just loved it. Some kids take their stuff to the dressers immediately; others keep it there all week and use the cubby as a shelf. BUT, I don't care how they do it: the clothes are staying folded AND sorted thanks to that bookshelf.

I'm seriously so happy. I just keep walking by the laundry room a couple times a day to see if the shelf is still there. I may eat my lunch in there today--I love it THAT MUCH!
