Paigey Gets a Haircut!

Before: checking in.

Mid-cut.

* After photos to follow. I need to get them from my other camera!

This weekend was a first for Paigey: she got her first official haircut! (I say first "official" because I had the brillant idea to trim it once after flat-ironing it. Let's just say, never cut curly hair dry. It shrinks quite a bit when it's wet. Note--Mom, maybe you also styled her hair when she last went down there?)

It was so exciting for Paige. I can't tell you how many times we've gone to have her brother or sisters' hair cut, and she asks to have hers done, too. I've always resisted because I was worried about finding someone who could cut curly hair.

But this weekend as we were out window shopping, I just caved in--and figured, even if it's not a great haircut, she's dying for the experience. She wanted the whole enchilada: to get in the chair, put on the cover thingy, get her hair washed, and have someone do her hair.

I could hardly blame her. So that's what we did.

We went to a kid-friendly salon, Cookie Cutters (Named such b/c you get a cookie cutter on your balloon at exit. Cute idea. The cookie cutter is the weight for the ballon.)

The hairdressers were dying over Paige's hair. It's so darn curly and thick--I think they could have made a wig out of the hair left on the floor after the cut. Seriously! We cut 3 inches of curl off--which is the equivalent of 10 inches of straight hair on Paige. LOL. Just kidding. It was a lot though.

The experience was great, overall. They have you sit in a car chair, pick out a DVD, and watch it while they cut. The shampoo chair is set up to look like a firetruck. The whole place is geared toward the kids. Paige loved it. She smiled from beginning to end.

And the cut looks really cute. She's our Tina Turner right now. Photos later today.
