Our home has been filled with Hanukkah songs this month.
You see, Paige is practicing/singing for the First Grade's Winter Program. She's learning songs about winter, Christmas in different places (Hawaii), and Hanukkah.
But the one holiday that seems to have caught Paigey's attention more than the others is Hanukkah. And as a result, everyone in the family has learned the Hanukkah songs from Paige (she is singing them 24/7).
So, with her bday falling during Hanukkah (and given that her parents are pretty much honorary Jews--we lived in the San Fernando Valley for a few years, hello.), I thought it would be fun to celebrate The Festival of Lights for Paige's bday.
But you know what?
It's a lot easier to find a menorah in Northridge, CA, than it is in Salt Lake City, Utah.
But thanks to Google I found this little home/storefront called "Kosher on the Go"--and after talking to the owner, Israel, on the phone, we hopped in the car and drove 45 minutes to get ourselves a dreidel and a menorrah.
We are so excited!!!!!!!!! (The best part of the trip, having Israel listen to Paige sing her Hanukkah songs. He thought she was Jewish! He said her Hebrew was spot-on. Is that hilarious?)
I think we may have started a new tradition for Paige's birthday--because I'm pretty sure her birthday will always fall on or near Hanukkah. How cool is that?
Happy almost Birthday Paige! LOVE YOU!
"Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel . . . I made it out of clay . . . ."
