This is how my brain works . . . so, forgive the title post today. Clearly, Jesus should come first.
Anyhow, here are my random musings today:
1.) It's SUNNY!
Praise the Lord! And I so mean it. Everything I wrote about the weather yesterday is SPOT-ON. A gloomy day makes a sunny day so so so much brighter! And today is starting out as a bright BRIGHT day. Woo hoo! (Even Harriet the Dog is smiling--see.)
2.) Jonah got his Driver Permit last week.
Last Thursday Jonah passed his permit exam and now he's an official driver (with a parent in the car)! Woo hoo Jonah! It's a pretty exciting thing. Dave was saying we may actually spend more time with Jonah this year while he has the permit--because he is stuck to us like glue . . . "Want me to go with you to Costco? Need me to go with you to pick up the kids? Do you have to go anywhere today? Want to buy lunch today? I can drive you?"
I love it.
And he's doing really well so far. Way to go, Jonah. You are a much better driver/student than I was at your age. Ask Gma or Gpa. (What do you mean you can't make a left on a red? You can make a right on a red. That makes no sense. Parallel rules, people.)
Good job Jonah! We love you.
3. The Oprah Show called me a couple of weeks ago.
Yup! I was waiting to blog about it because it was seriously so silly. And, I wasn't sure if anything would come of it.
But, nothing came of it. So, I'm blogging today.
Here's how I came to have the Oprah Show on my answering machine:
* About a year ago, I was online on the Oprah site and responded to a question about "your favorite star or hero." I was feeling super wordy that day, so I replied with an essay about how much I love Tina Fey. That was May 2009.
* Flash-forward 11 months when I get a phone message from "Andrea at the Oprah Winfrey Show." Turns out, Andrea had received my "essay email," and wanted to talk to me about possibly coming on the show to meet Tina Fey and talk about why I liked her so much.
Is that HILARIOUS?
I seriously thought Angie or someone was playing a joke on me. (Because Angie likes Amy Pohler--same theme.)
* But, it was legit. Andrea sent me an email, phoned, asked for a photo, cleared travel dates . . . the whole SHEBANG.
* BUT, she also told me this was just a pitch--she was running a few different ideas by the team before Tina Fey was on the show.
* And, apparently the "pitch" that included me had a hitch (LOL). How do I know? Because Tina Fey and Steve Carroll were on The Oprah Show Yesterday.
Without me.
Boo hoo.
Oh, well. It was still pretty exciting to have that original phone call--and interview. It made me month for sure.
****************
Oh!
4. And Jesus.
I almost forgot!
Why was Jesus in the post title?
Because when Andrea asked to clear my travel for the show she said, "I don't know if you celebrate Easter, but I'd need you to travel on April 3 and miss the holiday."
Chirp. Chirp.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Is this thing on?
I didn't know what to do? Miss Easter? Miss celebrating the celebration of the resurrection of the Savior of the world?
I really didn't know what to do.
Oprah or Jesus?
Thankfully, I didn't have to decide. (Because I'd pretty much justified it in my mind. Jesus is everyday of my life; Oprah--once in a lifetime for sure. LOL!)
Forgive the sacrilege (I think I apologize for that a lot. What's that mean?).
