Negotiations

First off, MOM--GET WELL SOON!

I am teaching a class this semester called "Persuasive Writing" and I've learned so much. Based on the title of the course, you'd think it would be a class about "getting your way"--persuading others to see your side in an argument.

But being persuasive isn't about that at all (winning).

Being persuasive is all about perspective, considering alternative solutions to problems, being flexible, seeing the best in others, putting others' needs in the mix with your own. It's all about negotiation.

And yesterday's release of the two reporters, Lee and Ling, made me realize that the ability to be persuasive/negotiate--well--really can change lives.
