Favorite Things: August '09

Last year I was in the habit of listing "my favorite things" on the blog from time to time. It was my way of channeling Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music (which, by the way, I was in a local production of--at age 8. I was Marta, the one next to Gretyl in the lineup. And believe me, it was not easy being Marta. Gretyl was an attention hog. LOL!)

But, I digress.

I liked the "Favorite Things" lists. They made me smile.

So, I'm bringing 'em back.

Not sexy.

Just back.

Here are a few of this week's "Favorite Things."

1. A new recipe website launched by The Pioneer Woman: The Tasty Kitchen. LOVE IT!

2. The movie, Aliens in the Attic. Well, it's wasn't my favorite, but it was our kids' favorite. When the credits were rolling I thought, "they had to have hated this." I couldn't have been more wrong: they loved it. That made it so worth while.

3. My new subscription to "Real Simple" from Dave's mom. (Thanks Mary--it's inspired me to get a TON of healthy snacks in our cupboards. I love it!)

4. Hearing that my mom was released from the hospital.

5. Getting ready for Jonah's birthmom and her family to visit. Can't wait to meet baby Catelyn!

6. Not getting any phonecalls from the Scouts while Jonah is hiking up the tallest peak in Utah (I'm a nervous wreck. 4 days. High altitude. Carry your own pack, eat dehydrated meals--it's intense!).

7. Being 1 class period away from completing Summer Term at BYU. Woo hoo!

8. Getting my first electronic contract from BYU (no need to sign, just click to confirm!).

9. Reading Janae's blog entry on how she gets hearts over her head when she thinks of her husband--and realizing that I feel the same way about Dave (thanks for the reminder Janae).

10. Eating 12 apricots from the roadside stand in Provo yesterday.
