I am sure this has something to do with being raised by a hairdresser/cook, but I don't think there's a better feeling in the WORLD than getting a haircut you LOVE and EATING a tasty empanada!
Just ask Jr. and LuLu . . .
Yeterday (cover your ears mom), we went to Supercuts and the kids got two GREAT haircuts.
Random sidenote: I call Supercuts "Hair Roulette"--because truly, you never know what you're going to get. Even if you're a gamblin' man (only men gamble), there's risk in a haircut from S.C.
Anyhow, the kids were SO happy with their new doos. It was great to see them leave that salon with HUGE smiles on their faces. (Is salon pushing it for Supercuts?)
Oh, and in other news, after the haircuts I made empanadas for the first time in my life. I'm telling you, it was so much fun (and they were so GOOD--again, I need a recipe for humble pie); I will be making them again . . . and again . . . and again.
Maybe by the 100s.
Look for me at a street car vendor near you!
New haircuts. Woo hoo!
Empanadas: from the Spanish verb empanar--to wrap in bread.
* Recipe in Real Simple this month--Mary, the magazine you gave me! It's basically a mini-meat pie: pie crust, ground beef, onions, olive oil, golden raisins, cinnamon,
kosher salt, cayenne pepper, kosher salt.
Does anyone else think I look like the mailman in Frosty the Snowman claymation (no offense, Dad, but I got Grandma Dot's, aka "Jay Leno's," chin in the DNA roulette)? I guess the chin distinguishes me from other people. I've got that going for me.
That, and this awesome apron from Heather! Thanks, Heather.
PS: I'm kind of joking about the chin happy to have the same chin as Gma Dotty. She was a good GOOD gma.)
Vwa-La!
(That's American-French for Ta-Da.)
