I know that no one at our Thanksgiving table resembles anyone in this painting, BUT, this is still my "go-to" image when I think of Thanksgiving:
* Everyone looks genuinely happy (smiley).
* They are leaning in to hear one another--the people matter WAY more than the food.
* There's that one guy in the R. hand corner of the frame who just HAS to look at the photographer.
* The table is beautiful.
* There are kids at the table.
* Grandma's rockin' a retro apron that is AWESOME!
* The turkey carving takes place AT the table (which is my new favorite tradition).
* Oh, and apparently you can set out a whole stalk of celery and people will munch at their leisure, seeing how celery compliments turkey and all.
Anyway, I know that you can deconstruct this image (school phrase) and find things "wrong" with it. Like, is anyone at the table multicultral? Ah, no. And don't even get me started on Grandpa being in a suit; clearly he's not been cooking. Where's G-ma's seat at the table?
But, I think that's negative and cranky.
And I don't want to be negative and cranky.
There's enough of that in life without LOOKING for it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Love you family in Tennessee, California, Colorado, New York and Oregon. XOXOXOX to the moon and back!
